pulpTunes

Modern technology gives us the possibility of taking our music with us, on a mobile phone or other portable devices. Unfortunately, mobile devices have limited storage capacity and if you want to play your music at a friend's house or at a party, you may not have the necessary cables or your phone's battery can run out. pulpTunes enables you to play anything from your iTunes library, anywhere in the world, as long as you have an Internet connection. The best part is that you don't have to make any configurations.

Although it may take some time to download the application, especially with a slow Internet connection, its files can be installed fast, without any difficulties. Additionally, you must create an online account, but it should not take more than a minute. The pulpTunes web server can be hosted on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux platforms and it does not cost too many resources.

Installing and running pulpTunes is sufficient to play your music on any computer. When launched, the application will read the iTunes XML library file, after which you will be able to play the library's contents on your web browser. Besides the usual details, like your email address or password, you have to specify a subdomain, when creating your pulpTunes online account. You can use this subdomain to access the web interface, on which you can play your music.

Your subdomain is displayed as a web link, when you run pulpTunes, so you can access the web interface right away. Alternatively, you can right click the application's system tray icon and select an option, for the same effect. Any changes you make in your iTunes library will reflect on the web interface. You can browse through your entire music collection or access specific playlists that were created in iTunes. It is also possible to enable a user management feature and use it to create groups and set up permissions, on the web interface.
